I wrote this post over a month ago, and then it sat in drafts purgatory. So I’m actually way late posting this…
Look at that, this month I’m not even that late posting Hadley’s monthly update!
Thankfully she has turned into a pretty awesome napper, so I actually have time to do things during the day. Sometimes I even do a load of laundry.
Before Hadley was even born I did some reading on baby-led weaning and thought it sounded right up my alley. We started when she was about 5.5 months (you can read more about that HERE) and although it was fun to watch her it was a little bit discouraging at the same time because she literally ate nothing. I knew this, I was prepared for it, but I guess I thought my child would be different. She would learn to eat in a few days time (lol) and well, that didn’t happen. We continued on with baby-led weaning though. I sat down with her for 3 meals a day most of the time and she would taste one thing and then throw everything on the floor. Obviously watching the dogs eat her food was much more fun. And then, sometime within the last month it clicked. She is scarfing down foods now. Her pincer grasp has developed and she is able to pick up small pieces and bring them to her mouth. Now that she is actually eating I have had to start cutting her food into smaller pieces because she kept shoving huge pieces into her mouth and attempting to swallow them. She absolutely loves fruit and would probably prefer me just to give her a mixture of fruit with every meal.
Look how much I’ve grown:
